Roberto Gervasi
Born in Mussomeli on June 14, 1990, Roberto Gervasi is a jazz accordionist who grew up in a musical family for generations. He started studying accordion at the age of 10 under the guidance of Giovanni Catanese, his grandfather.
Later he will study piano, harmony, and music theory with his brother Vincenzo Gervasi, conductor, saxophone player and composer.
At the age of 12 he joined the “Terrazzani di Trabia”,
a traditional Sicilian group composed of 30 dancers and 10 musicians, with whom he performed in many ethno-popular festival all over Europe.
In 2007 he joined the Brass Group jazz school in Palermo, where he studied piano and jazz improvisation under the guidance of maestro Giuseppe Vasapolli.
In February 2011, He joined the “D quartet group”, and he recorded his first album named “Ossessa”.
The Album will receive numerous acclaim both from the audience and the critics press, in 2011 with the same group he won the Absolute First Prize in the "Pippo Ardini Jazz music competition”.
In 2012 he moved to France to study the traditions of the manouche culture, and especially the music of Django Reinhardt.
